THQ Reveals Financial Status, Confirms UFC 2010 Struggles

It has been speculated for weeks now that UFC 2010 has been significantly underselling its projected numbers, and today there is finally conclusive proof thanks to THQ.

An article on industrygamers.com looks at an announcement made today by THQ which documents a colossal drop in projected fiscal revenue, largely attributed to underwhelming UFC Undisputed 2010 sales.

“For the first quarter, the company is forecasting net revenue to be between $155 and $165 million, down from the previous forecast of $190 to $200 million. The company is now expecting fiscal year 2011 sales of $845 to $865 million, versus the previous outlook of $905 to $920 million. The change is in response to weak sales of UFC Undisputed 2010 and ‘the strengthening US dollar’.”

This speaks volumes to how the company’s latest MMA video game is performing, being millions upon millions of dollars down from early estimates. While it was evident before that UFC 2010 wasn’t selling great, it’s hard to imagine anyone realizing how bad the situation could be. Look for THQ to continue pushing UFC 2010 as hard as they can in an effort to make up some of those losses.
